Miami, Florida – In a shocking case of child exploitation, Andres Rivera Reyes, a 29-year-old Mexican national, has pleaded guilty to attempting to produce child pornography, receiving and distributing child pornography, and being in the US illegally following deportation.

According to court documents, Rivera Reyes posed as a 9-year-old girl on social media to solicit minors to produce child sexual abuse material. He used social media platforms to share and receive child abuse material and kept videos on his phone of children under 12 engaged in explicit acts.

Rivera Reyes admitted to living in Boca Raton and Pompano Beach, Florida, and that he had been deported twice by the US before re-entering the country illegally. He faces up to 112 years in prison.

The case was investigated by the FBI Miami field office, with assistance from Homeland Security Investigations (HSI). Assistant U.S. Attorney Gregory Schiller is prosecuting the case.

The guilty plea was announced by Juan Antonio Gonzalez, Acting U.S. Attorney for the Southern District of Florida, and George Piro, Special Agent in Charge, Federal Bureau of Investigations (FBI), Miami Field Office.

Rivera Reyes is scheduled to be sentenced on October 20 at 11:00 a.m. before U.S. District Judge Robin L. Rosenberg in West Palm Beach.

This case was brought as part of Project Safe Childhood, a nationwide initiative to combat child sexual exploitation and abuse launched in 2006 by the US Department of Justice.
