Andrew Daniels, Assaulting Fellow Inmate, Pennsylvania 2022

In a shocking display of violence behind bars, Andrew Daniels, a 41-year-old inmate at the United States Penitentiary Canaan (USP Canaan) in Waymart, Pennsylvania, has been sentenced to 31 months in prison for repeatedly stabbing another inmate with a sharp object.

The heinous crime occurred at USP Canaan, where Daniels, while an inmate, repeatedly stabbed another inmate with a sharp object. The victim, who was treated for eight puncture wounds around his upper chest and abdomen, suffered severe injuries.

United States Attorney John C. Gurganus stated that the sentence will run consecutively to the 47-year sentence Daniels is already serving. This means that Daniels will have to serve the additional 31 months before he can be released or paroled.

The Federal Bureau of Prisons and the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) investigated the matter, with Assistant United States Attorney James Buchanan prosecuting the case.
