A 36-year-old Ontario man has been sentenced to 57 months in federal prison for unlawful possession of a firearm.
Andrew Ray Uyeki, 36, of Ontario, Oregon was sentenced by United States District Court Judge Ann Aiken on June 27, 2017 to 57 months in federal prison for unlawful possession of a firearm. Upon his release from prison, Uyeki will be on supervised release for three years.
The sentence stems from an October 29, 2015 search of a home in Ontario where law enforcement officers found Uyeki in possession of a 9mm Beretta handgun with a 30-round extended magazine.
Uyeki has prior felony convictions for delivery of methamphetamine, theft, conspiracy to commit burglary, and escape.
Uyeki’s case was investigated by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) and members of the High Desert Drug Task Force, the Ontario Police Department, and the Malheur County Sheriff’s Office.
The case was prosecuted by Nathan J. Lichvarcik, Assistant United States Attorney for the District of Oregon.
The charges against Uyeki include unlawful possession of a firearm, a felony offense. Uyeki’s prior felony convictions make him ineligible to possess a firearm.
The investigation and prosecution of this case demonstrate the commitment of federal, state, and local law enforcement agencies to keeping firearms out of the hands of dangerous individuals.
