Greenville Inmates Face New Charges

Stephen R. Wigginton, United States Attorney for the Southern District of Illinois, announced today that two inmates at the Federal Correctional Institution located in Greenville, Illinois, have been indicted for Possession of Contraband by a Federal Inmate.

Anthony Cunningham, 28, and Anthony Johnson, 25, were both inmates at FCI-Greenville at the time the offenses were committed.

Cunningham is charged with possessing marihuana while at FCI-Greenville, which carries a prison term of not more than five years, a fine up to $250,000, or both, and a term of supervised release of not more than three years.

Johnson is charged with possessing heroin while at FCI-Greenville, which carries a prison term of not more than twenty years, a fine up to $250,000, or both, and a term of supervised release of not more than three years.

Separately, Shelia Hatfield, 51, was also indicted on April 23, 2015, for Escape, a charge that carries a prison term of five years, a fine up to $250,000, or both, and a term of supervised release of not more than three years.

According to the indictment, Shelia Hatfield was an inmate at the Federal Prison Camp in Greenville, Illinois, at the time she committed the charged offense.

The cases were investigated by the Bureau of Prisons’ Special Investigation Section and are assigned to Assistant United States Attorney Angela Scott.

An indictment is merely the method by which federal charges are lodged. A defendant is presumed innocent until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt.
