A Moosic man, Anthony Frank Angeli, Jr., has been sentenced to 15 months in prison for stalking.
According to the United States Attorney’s Office for the Middle District of Pennsylvania, Angeli, 55, used the internet to harass and intimidate another individual between July 7, 2017, and August 14, 2017.
The victim reported that Angeli purchased a GPS tracking device and placed it on their car, allowing him to receive location notifications on his electronic devices. Angeli would then show up at places where the victim was or had been, including restaurants and retail stores.
Despite a Protection From Abuse Order (PFA) being granted, Angeli continued his harassment and intimidation of the victim.
On November 26, 2018, United States District Court Judge Malachy E. Mannion sentenced Angeli to 15 months’ imprisonment and three years’ supervised release. Angeli was ordered to surrender to the U.S. Marshals Service that morning at 10:00 a.m.
The case was investigated by the Moosic Police Department, the Lackawanna County District Attorney’s Office, and the Federal Bureau of Investigation. Assistant United States Attorney Jenny P. Roberts prosecuted the case.
The United States Attorney’s Office for the Middle District of Pennsylvania issued a statement regarding the sentencing, noting that stalking is a serious crime that can have severe consequences for the victim.
Angeli’s sentence is a result of his actions, which caused significant harm and disruption to the victim’s life.
