Antoine Walls, a 24-year-old resident of North Versailles, Pennsylvania, has been dealt a severe blow to his freedom. He has been sentenced to 44 months’ imprisonment, followed by three years’ supervised release, and ordered to pay a special assessment of $100 after being convicted of violating federal firearms laws.
The sentence was imposed by United States District Judge Mark R. Hornak in federal court. This conviction stems from Walls’ possession of a Glock 23 .40 caliber pistol, a Glock 27 .40 caliber pistol, and numerous rounds of .40 caliber ammunition on August 25, 2016.
As per the information presented in court, it is unlawful for Walls to possess a firearm and ammunition due to his previous conviction of a felony offense. This case is a stark reminder of the severe consequences one faces when violating federal firearms laws.
Assistant United States Attorney Heidi M. Grogan prosecuted this case on behalf of the government. The Federal Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives and the Leet Township Police Department conducted the investigation leading to the successful prosecution of Antoine Walls.
This case is part of Project Safe Neighborhoods (PSN), a program that brings together all levels of law enforcement and the communities they serve to reduce violent crime and make our neighborhoods safer for everyone. Attorney General Jeff Sessions reinvigorated PSN in 2017 as part of the Department’s renewed focus on targeting violent criminals.
Walls’ case is a testament to the effectiveness of this program and the collaborative efforts of law enforcement agencies in reducing violent crime. The people of Pennsylvania can rest a little easier knowing that those who break the law will face the full force of justice.
