A 35-year-old man from Newport News, Virginia, has been sentenced to 125 months in prison for his involvement in a prostitution ring. Antuane Keyone Armstrong was found guilty of three counts of using an interstate facility for unlawful activity.
The charges were brought against Armstrong after an investigation by the Newport News, Norfolk, and Virginia Beach Police Departments revealed that he had posted online advertisements for his business enterprise involving the illegal prostitution of several women, including a 16-year-old minor.
According to court documents, Armstrong conducted his criminal activities out of several local motels and was arrested on June 25, 2014, as a result of a surveillance operation. He pled guilty to the charges on November 13, 2014.
The FBI’s Norfolk Field Office handled the investigation, which was initiated by the respective police departments. Assistant United States Attorney Randy Stoker prosecuted the case on behalf of the United States.
Armstrong was sentenced to 125 months in prison, followed by 3 years of supervised release. The case arose out of prostitution investigations conducted by the Newport News, Norfolk, and Virginia Beach Police Departments.
Armstrong’s sentencing comes as a result of a long-term investigation into human trafficking in the Norfolk area. The case serves as a reminder of the importance of continued efforts to combat human trafficking and protect vulnerable individuals.
The U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Eastern District of Virginia announced the sentencing, which was handed down by Senior U.S. District Judge Robert G. Doumar.
