Antwon Brown, Attempted Murder, Tennessee 2020

Grimy Times has learned that six alleged members of the Unknown Vice Lords gang have been indicted for their roles in a violent gang shooting that left four people injured in a residential neighborhood in Tennessee.

According to a court document, the shooting occurred on September 7, 2020, after a rival gang opened fire on the UVL gang members and their families. The UVL gang retaliated by ordering a violent attack on the rival gang members, resulting in the shooting of approximately 40-50 bullets into the residence.

The defendants, who are all from Memphis, Tennessee, include Antwon Brown, also known as Yayo, 32, Cordera Douglas, also known as Chuckie Dee, 36, Willie Merriweather, 41, Tevin Richardson, also known as Santana, 34, Ricky Rogers, Jr., also known as Double R, RR, 32, and Laraveus Williams, also known as Ray Ray, 32.

As per the indictment, the defendants face charges including conspiracy to commit murder, attempted murder, assault with a dangerous weapon, and firearms violations. They are also accused of discharging a firearm during and in relation to a crime of violence, which carries a mandatory sentence of at least 10 years consecutive to any other sentence.

The maximum penalty for assault with a dangerous weapon in aid of racketeering is 20 years’ imprisonment, while conspiracy to commit murder and attempted murder in aid of racketeering carries a maximum sentence of 10 years’ imprisonment.

The case was investigated by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) and the Memphis Police Department. Trial Attorneys Lisa M. Thelwell and Dennis Robinson of the Violent Crime and Racketeering Section will be prosecuting the case.

The defendants are currently in custody and are awaiting trial. If convicted, a federal district judge will determine any sentence after considering the U.S. Sentencing Guidelines and other statutory factors.

This case is part of the Violent Crime Initiative to prosecute violent crimes in Memphis, Tennessee, and surrounding areas.
