Arica M. Boyles, 27, of Kerens, West Virginia, has been dealt a harsh sentence for her role in a cocaine trafficking operation in Tucker County.
According to court documents, Boyles collaborated with her husband, John Boyles, to sell crack cocaine in the area. The couple’s illicit activities came to light in May 2014, when they both pled guilty to one count of ‘Aiding and Abetting the Distribution of Cocaine Base.’
The sentencing hearing took place today, with U.S. District Judge John Preston Bailey presiding. Boyles was handed a 70-month prison sentence for her crimes.
This is not the first time the Boyles have faced justice for their cocaine trafficking activities. In November 2014, John Boyles was sentenced to 97 months in prison for his role in the operation.
The investigation into the Boyles’ activities was a joint effort between the Mountain Region Drug and Violent Crime Task Force and the Pocahontas County Sheriff’s Department.
Assistant U.S. Attorney Stephen Warner prosecuted the case on behalf of the government. The guilty plea and subsequent sentencing mark a significant blow to the cocaine trafficking operation in Tucker County.
With the Boyles now facing prison time, the community can breathe a sigh of relief. However, the impact of their actions will be felt for years to come.
