Arlington Predator Streaty Convicted of Enticing a Child

FORT WORTH, TX – Marquis Konrad Streaty, 32, of Arlington, Texas, is facing a lengthy federal prison sentence after being convicted yesterday of attempting to entice a 13-year-old girl. The conviction comes after a three-day jury trial before U.S. District Judge Reed C. O’Connor, as announced by U.S. Attorney John Parker of the Northern District of Texas. Streaty’s actions represent a chilling example of online predation and the dangers lurking in the digital shadows.

The evidence presented at trial painted a disturbing picture of Streaty’s calculated attempt to exploit a minor. Between March 2nd and March 9th, 2017, Streaty actively sought out potential victims through an online message board – a known haunt for those soliciting sexual activity. His advertisement, a brazenly suggestive appeal for a “discreet” encounter with someone possessing a “kinky side,” immediately raised red flags.

The trap was sprung when an undercover law enforcement agent responded to Streaty’s post, feigning interest and subtly probing about age. The agent stated they had a stepdaughter “who likes to play and might be up for a new friend,” then explicitly revealed the girl’s age: 13. Streaty’s response was chillingly direct: “No I don’t have any hung ups on age” and “I am interested.” He didn’t hesitate, didn’t express concern – only eagerness. The conversation quickly escalated, detailing proposed sexual acts and the purported minor’s supposed preferences.

The communication didn’t remain confined to the digital realm. Streaty and the undercover agent, posing as the girl’s stepfather, exchanged emails and text messages, solidifying plans to meet during the fictitious minor’s spring break. They even agreed to split the cost of a hotel room at an Inn and Suites along Interstate 30 in Fort Worth. This wasn’t idle chatter; it was a meticulously planned rendezvous with a clear intent.

On March 9th, 2017, Streaty drove from his Arlington residence to the Fort Worth hotel, fully prepared to meet who he believed was a 13-year-old girl. However, he didn’t find a vulnerable victim waiting. Instead, he was met by a team of law enforcement officers who immediately placed him under arrest. The operation, a collaborative effort between U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement’s (ICE) Homeland Security Investigations (HSI) and the Tarrant County Criminal District’s Office, successfully prevented a horrific crime from occurring.

Streaty now faces a minimum of 10 years and up to life in federal prison. Sentencing is scheduled for September 5, 2017. Assistant U.S. Attorneys Nancy Larson and Megan Fahey prosecuted the case, ensuring that this predator will be held accountable for his depraved actions. This case serves as a stark reminder of the ongoing threat of online exploitation and the crucial work of law enforcement in protecting our children. #GrimyTimes
