Armand White, 34 years old, of South Bend, Indiana, was sentenced to 25 years in prison after pleading guilty to brandishing a firearm during a robbery.
On November 1, 2019, White and another individual robbed a tobacco store at gunpoint in South Bend, Indiana. They ordered the store clerk to lay on the ground or be shot, while they stole cigarettes and money from the cash register.
At the time of the commission of the offense, White was on supervised release for a prior federal conviction for bank robbery and brandishing a firearm in relation to a crime of violence.
The case was the result of an investigation conducted by the Federal Bureau of Investigation with the assistance of the Mishawaka and South Bend Police Departments. The case was prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Kimberly Schultz.
This case was being prosecuted as part of the joint federal, state, and local Project Safe Neighborhoods (PSN) Program, the centerpiece of the violent crime reduction efforts. PSN is an evidence-based program proven to be effective at reducing violent crime.
Through PSN, a broad spectrum of stakeholders work together to identify the most pressing violent crime problems in the community and develop comprehensive solutions to address them. As part of this strategy, PSN focuses enforcement efforts on the most violent offenders and partners with locally based prevention and reentry programs for lasting reductions in crime.
White was sentenced to 300 months in prison followed by 3 years of supervised release.
