Aryan Brotherhood Gang Member Pleads Guilty to Racketeering & Kidnapping in Oklahoma

Charles M. McCully, a member of the Universal Aryan Brotherhood (UAB), pleaded guilty on Tuesday for his involvement in a racketeering enterprise and kidnapping, according to Acting U.S. Attorney Clint Johnson.

The UAB, a ‘whites only’ prison-based gang operating within Oklahoma’s correctional facilities, has been implicated in numerous criminal activities, including murder, witness intimidation, and drug dealing.

Mccully, 44, faces between 151 and 188 months in prison after entering his plea. The sentencing is scheduled for April 6, 2022.

Johnson emphasized that McCully’s actions were instrumental in the UAB’s operations, saying, “Today, he has been brought to account for his crimes.” Assistant U.S. Attorney Dennis A. Fries and agents from Homeland Security Investigations and IRS-Criminal Investigation are credited with their role in ensuring justice.

In his plea agreement, McCully admitted to being a member since 2005 and participating in various criminal acts for the gang’s benefit. He specifically mentioned the October 2014 kidnapping of two individuals who were believed to have provided law enforcement with information about a UAB stash house.

The indictment against McCully and 17 other members was unsealed in February 2019, charging them with racketeering crimes that included murder, drug trafficking, and firearms trafficking. The UAB, established within the Oklahoma Department of Corrections in 1993, has been modeled after the California-based Aryan Brotherhood.

U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement’s Homeland Security Investigations and IRS-Criminal Investigation led the investigation with support from local law enforcement agencies. Assistant U.S. Attorney Dennis A. Fries is handling the prosecution of this case.
