The streets of West Virginia just got a little meaner, as a Baltimore man is behind bars for pushing some of the deadliest stuff on the market.
Donald McDuffin Williams, a 49-year-old resident of Baltimore, Maryland, has been indicted on federal fentanyl and cocaine charges in the Eastern District of West Virginia.
According to court documents, investigators with the Eastern Panhandle Task Force suspected Williams of trafficking drugs in Harpers Ferry, West Virginia. They obtained a search warrant for a property where Williams was staying and found fentanyl and cocaine.
Williams is charged with possession with intent to distribute fentanyl and possession with intent to distribute cocaine base. If convicted, he faces up to 20 years in federal prison for each charge. A federal district court judge will determine any sentence after considering the U.S. Sentencing Guidelines and other statutory factors.
The case was investigated by the Eastern Panhandle Task Force, a HIDTA-funded initiative. Assistant U.S. Attorney Lara Omps-Botteicher is prosecuting the case on behalf of the government.
An indictment is merely an allegation, and each defendant is presumed innocent until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law.
As Grimy Times continues to expose the dark underbelly of crime in America, it’s clear that the war on drugs is far from over. Stay tuned for more updates on this developing story.
