A brazen bank robber has been brought to justice after a federal grand jury indicted him on charges of bank robbery and armed bank robbery.
Christopher Wallace, 28, formerly of Pittsburgh, Pa., is accused of robbing two banks in the Pittsburgh area with a dangerous weapon.
The first robbery occurred at First Commonwealth Bank, located at 5200 Butler Street, in Lawrenceville, on February 10, 2015. The second robbery took place at PNC Bank, located at 206 Rodi Road in Penn Hills, also on February 10, 2015.
Both banks are insured by the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation. According to the indictment, Wallace used a dangerous weapon during both robberies.
The law provides for a maximum total sentence of 25 years in prison, a fine of $250,000.00, or both. Under the Federal Sentencing Guidelines, the actual sentence imposed would be based upon the seriousness of the offenses and the prior criminal history, if any, of the defendant.
Assistant United States Attorney Cindy K. Chung is prosecuting this case on behalf of the government. The investigation leading to the indictment was conducted by the Federal Bureau of Investigation and the Pittsburgh Bureau of Police.
An indictment is an accusation. The defendant, Christopher Wallace, is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty.
