HOUSTON – Bartolo Saucedo-Patino, a 38-year-old Mexican national who unlawfully resided in Houston, has been ordered to federal prison for illegally reentering the country for the sixth time.
According to authorities, Saucedo-Patino pleaded guilty on June 11 to reentering the United States after being removed eight times since 2007.
On May 27, 2024, he was encountered by Immigration Customs Enforcement – Enforcement Removal Operations in Houston.
Saucedo-Patino’s lengthy record of offenses includes assault of a family member, assault for intentionally or recklessly impeding breathing or circulation, failure to stop and provide information, possession of marijuana, two convictions for possession of cocaine, and another conviction for illegal reentry into the country.
The U.S. District Judge Andrew S. Hanen deemed it necessary to impose a harsh sentence in order to deter future re-entry attempts by Saucedo-Patino.
He was sentenced to a total of 45 months in federal prison – 32 months for this offense plus an additional 13 months for violating his supervised release for his prior conviction for illegal reentry.
Following his imprisonment, Saucedo-Patino is expected to face removal proceedings.
Special Assistant U.S. Attorney Carrie Law prosecuted the case, which was investigated by Immigration Customs Enforcement – Enforcement Removal Operations.
