BEAUMONT, Texas – In a stunning crackdown on synthetic drug trafficking, 32-year-old Conrad Stanley Hammon of Beaumont has been arrested for possession with intent to distribute Lego-shaped blocks of Dimethyltrypamine (DMT), commonly known as synthetic marijuana.
The Department of Justice announced the arrest, which follows an extensive investigation by the Drug Enforcement Administration and the Jefferson County Narcotics Task Force.
Hammon was indicted on August 6, 2014, following a June 13, 2014, search warrant executed at his residence. Authorities uncovered approximately 85 kilograms of liquid DMT injected into Lego-shaped blocks during the raid, indicating an intent to distribute to minors or younger adults.
The defendant, who was arrested on August 8, 2014, appeared before U.S. Magistrate Judge Keith F. Giblin and has been released pending trial. If convicted, Hammon faces up to 20 years in federal prison.
This case is a testament to the ongoing battle against synthetic drugs, which have become increasingly popular among youth. Assistant U.S. Attorney Robert L. Rawls is prosecuting this case.
A grand jury indictment is not evidence of guilt, and all defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law.
