Beaumont Predator Odom Gets 87 Months for Child Pornography

BEAUMONT, Texas – The grimy streets of Beaumont witnessed a disturbing tale of depravity as Charles Wilburn Odom, 47, faced the federal justice system for his monstrous crimes. Today, Odom was sentenced to 87 months in federal prison after pleading guilty to possession of child pornography on August 7, 2012.

According to the grime-laden details, October 28, 2010, marked a day of horror as federal agents executed a search warrant at Odom’s residence. The grim reality of their discovery was over 140 videos and 79 images of child pornography, some of which showcased sadistic and masochistic acts, while others depicted prepubescent children under the age of 12.

Odom was formally indicted by a federal grand jury on May 16, 2012. His descent into this sinister world was part of Project Safe Childhood, a nationwide initiative launched in May 2006 to combat child sexual exploitation and abuse. This project is a relentless effort led by the United States Attorneys’ Offices and the Criminal Division’s Child Exploitation and Obscenity Section (CEOS) to identify and rescue victims, apprehend predators like Odom, and bring them to justice.

ICE/HSI, Beaumont Police Department, and Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office played pivotal roles in this investigation. Assistant U.S. Attorney Christopher T. Tortorice prosecuted the case with unwavering determination.
