Narik Wilson, Racketeering Conspiracy, New Jersey 2024

The Bloods street gang is back in the headlines as two of its leaders, Narik Wilson and Emil Rutledge, have admitted to their roles in a racketeering conspiracy that involved murder, attempted murder, and heroin distribution. The duo pleaded guilty to Count Two of a 14-count superseding indictment in Newark federal court.

Wilson, 32, also known as ‘Spaz,’ and Rutledge, 27, also known as ‘Diddy,’ both of Newark, New Jersey, were high-ranking members of the Sex Money Murder subgroup, which operates primarily in Essex County. They admitted to committing a series of violent crimes between 2007 and 2011 to advance the gang’s objectives.

According to documents filed in the case, Wilson directed the murder and attempted murder of eight rival gang members, while Rutledge carried out a number of the shootings ordered by Wilson, causing serious injuries to others and the death of a victim. Wilson and Rutledge conspired to distribute more than one kilogram of heroin in and around Newark.

The plea agreements require both Wilson and Rutledge to be sentenced to 30 years in prison, minus time served in jail on related cases, and five years of supervised release. Sentencing is scheduled for February 15, 2017.

U.S. Attorney Paul J. Fishman credited the FBI, FBI’s Safe Streets Task Force, Essex County Prosecutor’s Office, Essex County Sheriff’s Office, and Newark Department of Public Safety with the investigation leading to the guilty pleas.

Wilson is represented by Michael N. Pedicini Esq., while Rutledge is represented by Timothy R. Anderson Esq.

The government is represented by Assistant U.S. Attorney Anthony Mahajan of the U.S. Attorney’s Office Criminal Division in Newark.
