Local Man Charged with Laser Pointer Assault
A Boardman man is facing serious charges after allegedly pointing a laser at a medical helicopter in June 2013. Travis D. Krzysztofiak, 34, was indicted by a federal grand jury on one count of aiming a laser pointer at an aircraft, according to a recent indictment.
On June 15, 2013, Krzysztofiak allegedly directed the beam of a laser pointer at a medical helicopter approaching Akron’s Children’s Hospital in Boardman. The Federal Bureau of Investigation and the Boardman Police Department investigated the incident.
The indictment, which was announced by Steven M. Dettelbach, United States Attorney for the Northern District of Ohio, carries a sentence determined by the court. The court will consider the defendant’s prior record, role in the offense, and characteristics of the violations. The sentence will not exceed the statutory maximum.
