Bortolo DalDosso Pleads Guilty to $92K Bank Fraud

Bortolo DalDosso, a 53-year-old resident of Allison Park, Pennsylvania, has admitted to stealing $92,455.27 through a calculated bank fraud scheme that exploited his position of trust at a major tech services firm. The plea, entered in federal court, marks the end of a two-year financial heist that slipped through internal controls at Black Box Network Services.

DalDosso, also known as Bart DalDosso, pleaded guilty to one count of bank fraud before United States District Judge Arthur J. Schwab. From April 2012 to December 2014, he used his role as Manager of the Credit and Collections Department to reroute customer refunds—funneling company money into his personal accounts by forging endorsements on checks and depositing funds directly into his bank. Other fraudulent refunds were credited to his or his wife’s credit card accounts.

The thefts were carried out under the guise of routine business transactions, masking the embezzlement from auditors and supervisors. The Bank of New York Mellon, where the corporate accounts were held, became the unwitting conduit for the diverted funds. Investigators say DalDosso’s access and authority allowed the fraud to persist for nearly three years.

Judge Schwab has scheduled sentencing for April 5, 2017, at 12:30 p.m. DalDosso now faces up to 30 years in federal prison and a fine of $1,000,000, though the actual sentence will be determined under federal guidelines based on the severity of the offense and any prior criminal record.

The case was investigated by the U.S. Postal Inspection Service and Homeland Security Investigations, agencies that traced the fraud through financial records and forged documentation. Their probe uncovered the full extent of DalDosso’s betrayal of company trust and misuse of internal systems.

Assistant United States Attorney Shardul S. Desai is prosecuting the case. With the guilty plea entered, all eyes turn to the April sentencing, where DalDosso will learn the consequences of turning his job into a criminal enterprise.
