PITTSBURGH, Pa. – Charles R. Gladish, a North Braddock resident, has been handed a 45-year sentence after being convicted of possessing child pornography. The 41-year-old was sentenced to 30 months imprisonment, followed by 15 years supervised release, according to United States Attorney David J. Hickton.
United States District Judge Joy Flowers Conti imposed the harsh sentence on Gladish for his possession of over 50 photographs and videos depicting minors engaged in sexually explicit conduct, some as young as 12 years old.
The court records indicate that Gladish had accumulated this material by October 26, 2011. Assistant United States Attorney Carolyn J. Bloch led the prosecution against him on behalf of the government.
Hickton extended his praise to the Pennsylvania State Police for their thorough investigation that resulted in Gladish’s conviction. This case is a part of Project Safe Childhood, an initiative established by the Department of Justice to combat child sexual exploitation and abuse since May 2006.
Project Safe Childhood, coordinated by the United States Attorneys’ Offices and the Criminal Division’s Child Exploitation and Obscenity Section, utilizes federal, state, and local resources to identify, apprehend, and prosecute those who sexually exploit children. With this sentence, Gladish joins the ranks of predators who have been brought to justice under Project Safe Childhood’s relentless pursuit of child safety.
