Brandon Ferrell, Stephanie Amber Smith, Armed Robbery, Maryland 2014

A Baltimore couple has been sentenced to prison for their role in the armed robbery of a convenience store.

According to the United States Attorney for the District of Maryland, Rod J. Rosenstein, Brandon Ferrell, age 23, and Stephanie Amber Smith, age 24, both of Baltimore, were sentenced for the armed robbery of a convenience store on September 27, 2013, and possession of a firearm in furtherance of a crime of violence.

The couple admitted to committing three additional armed convenience store robberies two days later.

Ferrell was sentenced on December 17, 2014, to 20 years in prison, followed by three years of supervised release, while Smith was sentenced to 13 years in prison, also followed by three years of supervised release.

The couple stole approximately $160 from a convenience store located in the 3500 block of Boston Street in Baltimore on September 27, 2013. Ferrell entered the store first, grabbed an iced-tea and walked to the counter. Then Smith entered the store, pointed a semi-automatic pistol at the clerk, and demanded money. Ferrell removed the money from the cash drawer located behind the counter. Ferrell and Smith then fled the store.

The couple robbed three other convenience stores at gunpoint on September 29, 2013.

United States Attorney Rod J. Rosenstein commended the FBI, Baltimore Police Department, and Baltimore City State’s Attorney’s Office for their work in the investigation.

Baltimore, Maryland – U.S. District Judge William D. Quarles, Jr. sentenced Brandon Ferrell and Stephanie Amber Smith to 20 years in prison and 13 years in prison, respectively, each followed by three years of supervised release, for the armed robbery of a convenience store on September 27, 2013, and possession of a firearm in furtherance of a crime of violence.
