A Brandon resident has been sentenced to serve a total of 50 years in federal prison for production of child pornography and possession of child pornography.
Emilio Bellizzia, 44, a legal resident of the United States from Mexico, was sentenced on April 4, 2023 in U.S. District Court in Jackson.
Bellizzia was indicted by a federal grand jury and pled guilty on January 6, 2023 to production of child pornography and possession of child pornography.
A federal search warrant was executed at Bellizzia’s home in Brandon on September 15, 2022, and found several electronic devices containing child pornography. The following day, Bellizzia attempted to flee to Mexico.
The case was investigated by the Federal Bureau of Investigation and the Mississippi Attorney General’s Office. Assistant United States Attorney Glenda R. Haynes prosecuted the case.
This case was brought as part of Project Safe Childhood, a nationwide initiative to combat the growing epidemic of child sexual exploitation and abuse launched in May 2006.
Bellizzia will also be required to register as a sex offender and serve a lifetime of supervised release after completing his sentence.
