Brent Lawson, Child Pornography, Missouri 2022

Brent Lawson, a resident of Jefferson County in Missouri, has pleaded guilty to receiving child pornography, a crime that has left many shocked and outraged. The charges against Lawson were brought forth by the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) after a thorough investigation.

According to the indictment, Lawson knowingly received and possessed images and videos of prepubescent minors, including minors under the age of twelve, engaged in sexually explicit conduct over the internet. This horrific act occurred between May 24, 2019, and November 24, 2020, in the Eastern District of Missouri.

The investigation led by the FBI discovered that Lawson accessed child sexual abuse and exploitation material on a website that was an online bulletin board dedicated to the advertisement and distribution of child pornography. Law enforcement infiltrated the website and identified Lawson as having accessed the website.

On May 24, 2019, Lawson utilized the internet to access the website, which led to further investigation. Subsequently, law enforcement obtained a search warrant for Lawson’s residence, which was executed on November 24, 2020. Forensic analysis of electronics seized by law enforcement during the search confirmed Lawson possessed fifty-four videos of child pornography that he downloaded from the internet.

Lawson has a prior conviction for transportation of child pornography, attempted receipt of child pornography, and possession of child pornography, which he was convicted of on April 22, 2004, in the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Missouri. He was sentenced to sixty months imprisonment, followed by a period of three years on supervised release.

The case against Lawson is a stark reminder of the severity of child pornography and the importance of law enforcement’s efforts to combat this heinous crime. Lawson’s sentencing is set for March 18, 2022.
