Brentwood Woman Sentenced for Oxycodone Ring Role

PITTSBURGH, Pa. – Brittany Lee Preston, a 23-year-old resident of Brentwood, has been sentenced to five years probation for her role in an oxycodone distribution ring. The sentence includes one year of home detention and 150 hours of community service.

Preston was convicted of conspiracy to distribute controlled substances and to acquire them by fraud, forgery, deception, and subterfuge. United States Attorney David J. Hickton announced the sentence, which was imposed by Judge Mark R. Hornak.

Information presented in court revealed that Preston played a minor role in the ring compared to her then-boyfriend, Jeffrey Mackewich, who led the operation. The judge emphasized Preston’s support from her employer and her overcoming of her oxycodone addiction as factors in his decision.

The case was prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Stephen R. Kaufman, with the Drug Enforcement Administration commending for the successful investigation that led to Preston’s conviction.

U.S. Attorney Hickton also acknowledged the DEA’s efforts, highlighting the importance of such investigations in combating drug trafficking and its impact on communities.

This sentence sends a clear message about the consequences faced by those involved in drug rings, even in minor capacities. The case serves as a reminder of the ongoing struggle against drug abuse and distribution across the nation.
