April 26, 2017 marked a significant day in the federal court system as the trial of Brian Bickford, a 52-year-old Vermont resident, began at the United States District Court in Burlington, Vermont. Bickford was accused of a string of violent crimes that left the community in shock.
Bickford was charged with one count of conspiracy to commit bank robbery and four counts of bank robbery in relation to a series of robberies that took place between 2011 and 2015. According to the indictment, Bickford and his co-conspirators robbed multiple banks in Vermont and New York, making off with a substantial amount of cash.
The investigation into Bickford’s activities was a joint effort between the FBI and local law enforcement agencies. Authorities were able to link Bickford to the crimes through a combination of forensic evidence and witness testimony.
In June 2017, Bickford pleaded guilty to the charges. He was subsequently sentenced to 57 months in prison, followed by three years of supervised release. In addition to his prison sentence, Bickford was ordered to pay restitution to the victims of the bank robberies.
