Tucson Man Arrested for Dealing Firearms Without a License and Possessing Unregistered Firearms
Brian Jesus Hernandez, 24, of Tucson, Arizona, was arrested and charged Monday with Dealing Firearms Without a License and Possessing Firearms Not Identified by a Serial Number.
According to investigators, Hernandez used a SnapChat account to advertise and sell firearms. On November 17, 2022, Hernandez sold a fully automatic 9mm pistol with no serial number to an undercover detective from the Tucson Police Department.
On February 6, 2023, Hernandez sold a ‘drop-in auto sear’ to an undercover agent from the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives. A drop-in auto sear is a conversion device that allows a semiautomatic AR-15 style assault rifle to fire fully automatic. Hernandez told the agent that he made the device with his 3D printer and showed the agent a video that gave instructions on how to use the device.
That same day, agents executed a search warrant at Hernandez’ residence. They seized two 3D printers, four firearms, and various firearms parts and took Hernandez into custody.
The Federal Bureau of Investigation, the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, and the Tucson Police Department conducted the investigation in this case. The United States Attorney’s Office, District of Arizona, Tucson, is handling the prosecution.
