A 45-year-old Greene County man was sentenced to nearly 10 years in prison for his role in the shooting of an Ohio wildlife officer.
Brian R. Liming of Jamestown, Ohio, was sentenced to nine years and 364 days in prison by Senior U.S. District Judge Susan J. Dlott.
Liming was found guilty of illegally possessing a loaded 20-gauge shotgun on December 20, 2020, while an officer with the Ohio Department of Natural Resources was shot while investigating illegal deer hunting near Martinsville, Ohio.
The shooting occurred after Liming had previously been convicted of a misdemeanor crime of domestic violence, which prohibited him from possessing a firearm or ammunition.
Liming was also convicted locally in Clinton County Common Pleas Court of felony assault and misdemeanor hunting charges related to the shooting and was sentenced to 54 months of incarceration.
The federal sentence will run consecutively to his local sentence, meaning he will serve both at the same time.
The U.S. Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms & Explosives (ATF) announced the sentence, which was also supported by the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Southern District of Ohio.
