South Bend, Indiana – A local man has pleaded guilty to a racketeering charge in federal court. Brison K. Williams, 20, of South Bend, Indiana, entered a guilty plea before Magistrate Judge Christopher Nuechterlein to the felony offense of racketeering.
The charge was filed as a result of an investigation by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, the Federal Bureau of Investigation and the South Bend Police Department. Assistant United States Attorney Donald Schmid is prosecuting the case.
Williams’ sentencing has been set for July 15, 2013. If convicted in court, any specific sentence to be imposed will be determined by the judge after a consideration of federal sentencing statutes and the Federal Sentencing Guidelines.

The investigation revealed a complex web of organized crime activity in the South Bend area, with multiple individuals involved in various aspects of the operation.
The case against Williams is a significant blow to the organized crime syndicate, which had been operating in the region for several years. The guilty plea and subsequent sentencing of Williams will serve as a warning to others involved in similar activities, and demonstrates the commitment of law enforcement officials to bring those responsible to justice.
