Bronx Thug Pleads Guilty to Aggravated ID Theft

HARRISBURG – A New York thug, Enrique Reyes, 20, of the Bronx, faced federal charges after pleading guilty to aggravated identity theft on September 8, 2020. The guilty plea came before United States District Court Judge Sylvia H. Rambo.

According to United States Attorney David J. Freed, Reyes and his cohorts Josue Peguero, 21, and Marlon Valoy De La Rosa, 21—also from the Bronx—were arrested in Steelton, Dauphin County, Pennsylvania, on January 4, 2020. The trio had tampered with a U.S. Mail collection box using a rope to fish for mail, and they engaged in several fraudulent ATM transactions using stolen checks and debit cards.

At the time of their arrest, Reyes and his companions were found in possession of multiple debit cards under different names, a stolen license plate believed to have been used for mail fishing, and a check that appeared to be tampered with, indicating an attempt to remove writing from it.

The case was investigated by the United States Postal Inspection Service and the Steelton Borough Police Department. Assistant U.S. Attorney Ravi Romel Sharma is handling the prosecution of Reyes’s case.

Reyes now faces a mandatory two-year prison sentence for his crimes, with the possibility of a fine up to $250,000 and one year of supervised release following imprisonment. The judge must consider various factors in determining the appropriate sentence, including the nature of the offense, the defendant’s history, and the need for protection of the public.

Informations are only allegations, and all persons charged are presumed innocent unless and until found guilty in court.
