Bryan Adamson: 70 Months for Smuggling Chaos

SAN ANTONIO, TX – A Jamaican national has been sentenced to a substantial federal prison term for his central role in a ruthless human smuggling conspiracy that crammed hundreds of desperate people into tractor trailers, risking their lives for profit. Bryan Adamson, 52, received 70 months in prison Tuesday after pleading guilty to charges stemming from the operation.

Court records detail Adamson’s involvement in coordinating at least 14 alien smuggling events between May 6, 2021, and April 28, 2022. He wasn’t just a driver; he was a key organizer, responsible for recruiting drivers, hiring scouts, paying co-conspirators, and directly communicating to facilitate the transport of smuggled individuals arriving in Laredo from Mexico. The operation, run by a larger Human Smuggling Organization (HSO), systematically packed aliens into trailers, often exceeding 100 people per load, for transport to San Antonio.

The investigation, launched in May 2021 by Homeland Security Investigations (HSI) San Antonio, uncovered the sheer scale of the HSO’s activity. Agents linked the organization to at least 19 smuggling events resulting in the apprehension of over 900 aliens. These weren’t simple border crossings. Aliens were held in “stash houses” in Laredo before being crammed into tractor trailers for the journey north. One particularly harrowing incident, on May 6, 2021, involved a trailer where individuals were desperately trying to escape, ripping at the trailer door and sticking their hands out while in transit. Forty-one aliens were apprehended, one requiring hospitalization for dehydration. Two were unaccompanied minors. One alien told HSI investigators the trailer held over 100 people, the temperature was dangerously high, and people were struggling to breathe.

Adamson was initially charged with one count of transporting illegal aliens on June 15, 2022. A superseding indictment on August 17, 2022, added a second count of conspiracy to transport illegal aliens and placing the life of a person in jeopardy. He was arrested on June 23, 2022, and ultimately pleaded guilty to both charges on May 1, 2025. U.S. District Judge Xavier Rodriguez didn’t just hand down the prison sentence. He also ordered Adamson to spend three years on supervised release and forfeit $164,250, along with two firearms and related accessories.

“Human smuggling crimes don’t just violate borders—they endanger lives, exploit vulnerable people, and finance some of the most dangerous criminal organizations our world has ever known,” stated U.S. Attorney Justin Simmons for the Western District of Texas. “This sentencing sends the message that we will continue to aggressively prosecute these cases and intend to hold those involved accountable.” Craig Larrabee, Special Agent in Charge of HSI San Antonio, added, “The defendant’s actions not only violated federal law but posed a risk to human life. We will continue working with our international and domestic partners to protect our communities and uphold the rule of law.”

Adamson isn’t the only one facing consequences. Seven of his co-defendants have already been sentenced. Fredi Zagala-Servin received 97 months, Sedrick Zelitis Smith 84 months, and Mark Algie Holliday, Norman Lee Walker, Jr., Ronnie Joe Branch, and Eliseo Loredo each received 30 months. The investigation remains ongoing, and authorities promise further prosecutions as they dismantle this dangerous smuggling network. The Grimy Times will continue to follow this case.
