Bryan C. Mileikis, Child Pornography Receipt and Possession, MA 2020

Bryan C. Mileikis, a 33-year-old man from Bourne, Massachusetts, is facing federal charges after being indicted on child pornography offenses. A federal grand jury returned the indictment yesterday, charging Mileikis with one count of receipt of child pornography and one count of possession of child pornography.

Mileikis was first arrested on July 1, 2020, following a criminal complaint. The case unfolded after law enforcement executed a search warrant at his home on June 11, 2019. During the search, agents seized an iPhone belonging to Mileikis. Forensic analysis of the device uncovered images and videos depicting child pornography, triggering the federal charges.

The charge of receipt of child pornography carries a mandatory minimum sentence of five years in prison and up to 20 years behind bars. It also includes a mandatory minimum of five years of supervised release, extending up to life, and a fine of $250,000. The possession charge allows for a sentence of up to 20 years in prison, the same $250,000 fine, and a mandatory minimum of five years of supervised release that can last for life.

Sentencing will ultimately be determined by a federal district court judge, guided by the United States Sentencing Guidelines and other statutory factors. If convicted, Mileikis could spend decades in federal custody, followed by lifelong monitoring.

The investigation was led by Homeland Security Investigations and the Federal Bureau of Investigation, with assistance from the Bourne Police Department. Today’s announcement was made by United States Attorney Andrew E. Lelling; Michael Shea, Acting Special Agent in Charge of Homeland Security Investigations in Boston; Joseph R. Bonavolonta, Special Agent in Charge of the FBI’s Boston Field Division; and Bourne Chief of Police Dennis Woodside. Assistant U.S. Attorney Suzanne Sullivan Jacobus of Lelling’s Major Crimes Unit is prosecuting the case.

This case is part of Project Safe Childhood, a nationwide initiative launched in 2006 by the Department of Justice to combat child exploitation. The program unites federal, state, and local law enforcement to identify, apprehend, and prosecute offenders while also working to rescue victims.
