BUFFALO, N.Y. – A city man is behind bars after a judge handed down a 37-month sentence for a serious crime.
Marcus Adside, 24, of Buffalo, was convicted of being a felon in possession of a firearm, a charge that carries significant prison time.
According to sources, on November 26, 2010, Adside illegally possessed a firearm while under New York Parole supervision stemming from a prior felony conviction.
When approached by Buffalo Police officers, Adside fled the scene, leading to a foot chase. In a reckless move, he threw the firearm, but later DNA testing would link him to the weapon.
Assistant U.S. Attorney Timothy C. Lynch, who handled the sentencing, stated that Adside’s actions were a clear danger to the community.
The sentencing is the culmination of an investigation by Special Agents of the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, under the direction of Frank Christiano, Special Agent in Charge and the Buffalo Police Department, under the direction of Commissioner Daniel Derenda.
Chief U.S. District Judge William M. Skretny handed down the 37-month sentence, to be followed by two years of supervised release.
