On the chilly morning of March 28, 1908, a sinister plot to silence former Adjutant General Bulkeley Wells of Colorado Springs almost succeeded. A well-laid dynamite bomb, strategically placed under Wells’ bed on the outer porch of his home, exploded with devastating force, catapulting him and debris many feet through the air. The once tranquil morning was shattered by the deafening blast, which left a trail of destruction in its wake.
