A Sacramento, California resident has been slammed with a hefty prison sentence for his role in a massive methamphetamine trafficking operation.
Marcus Antonio Naranjo-Aguilar, age 30, was sentenced to 235 months for one count of Possession with Intent to Distribute Methamphetamine.
The charges stemmed from an investigation by the Oklahoma Highway Patrol and the Drug Enforcement Administration, which resulted in Naranjo-Aguilar’s arrest on January 20, 2022.
Naranjo-Aguilar led officers on a high-speed pursuit on Oklahoma Interstate Highway 40 in Sequoyah County, Oklahoma, before being apprehended and arrested. Upon searching his vehicle, law enforcement seized approximately 22.3 kilograms of methamphetamine.
Naranjo-Aguilar pleaded guilty to the charge on January 9, 2023, and was remanded to the custody of the United States Marshal Service pending sentencing.
The Honorable Ronald A. White, Chief Judge in the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Oklahoma, presided over the hearings. Assistant United States Attorney Joshua Satter represented the United States in the case.
The sentence is a significant blow to Naranjo-Aguilar and those involved in the trafficking operation. It serves as a reminder of the harsh consequences for those who seek to profit from the illicit drug trade.
As the war on drugs continues to rage on, cases like Naranjo-Aguilar’s highlight the need for continued vigilance and cooperation between law enforcement agencies.
