California Man Sentenced for Smuggling 30 Pounds of Meth

WICHITA, KAN.

A massive methamphetamine trafficking operation was dealt a significant blow yesterday with the sentencing of Christian Delgado-Lopez, a 30-year-old man from Dana Point, California. Delgado-Lopez was handed a 10-year prison sentence for smuggling nearly 30 pounds of methamphetamine into Kansas.

According to court documents, Delgado-Lopez was driving a rented Ford F-150 when he was stopped by the Kansas Highway Patrol on U.S. Highway 54 in Meade County. He and his passenger told the trooper they were on their way to Wichita, but a search of the vehicle turned up the hidden stash of methamphetamine, concealed in a spare tire.

Delgado-Lopez pleaded guilty to one count of possession with intent to distribute methamphetamine. His sentence is a testament to the tireless efforts of law enforcement agencies and prosecutors working to combat the scourge of methamphetamine trafficking in Kansas.

U.S. Attorney Stephen McAllister commended the Kansas Highway Patrol, the Drug Enforcement Administration, and Assistant U.S. Attorney Debra Barnett for their work on the case.

The sentencing of Delgado-Lopez serves as a reminder of the devastating impact of methamphetamine on our communities. It’s a stark reminder of the importance of continued vigilance and cooperation between law enforcement agencies to prevent such crimes from occurring in the future.
