California Man Sentenced to 48 Months for Methamphetamine Distribution

A California man has been sentenced to 48 months in prison for his role in a methamphetamine distribution conspiracy.

Pedro Vazquez, 31, of California, was sentenced on April 25, 2024, by Chief Judge Nannette Jolivette Brown for conspiracy to distribute and possess with intent to distribute methamphetamine (Count 1) and possession with intent to distribute methamphetamine (Count 2), in violation of Title 21, United States Code, Sections 841(a)(1) and 846 respectively.

As part of his sentence, Vazquez will serve 48 months of imprisonment, followed by five years of supervised release, and pay a $200 mandatory special assessment fee. All sentences are to run concurrently with each other.

Vazquez was part of a conspiracy to distribute and possess with intent to distribute methamphetamine, which involved others known and unknown. He also drove to Metairie, Louisiana to conduct a narcotics transaction that involved a quantity of methamphetamine.

The case was investigated by the Drug Enforcement Administration and the Jefferson Parish Sheriff’s Office. Assistant United States Attorney Lynn E. Schiffman of the Narcotics Unit handled the prosecution.

The sentencing of Vazquez marks another blow to those involved in the distribution of methamphetamine in the region. The DEA and local law enforcement agencies continue to work tirelessly to disrupt and dismantle these operations.

In a statement, the DEA praised the cooperation and dedication of the Jefferson Parish Sheriff’s Office in bringing Vazquez to justice. The agency also highlighted the importance of continued cooperation between federal and local law enforcement in combating the scourge of methamphetamine.
