Red Hook Five Slapped with Fed Charges for Coke & Oxycodone Bust
In a major blow to the streets of St. Thomas, five local residents have been slapped with federal charges for allegedly peddling cocaine and oxycodone pills in the Red Hook area.
According to court documents, between December 5, 2023, and December 7, 2023, the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) and the Virgin Islands Police Department (VIPD) utilized an undercover agent to conduct purchases of cocaine and oxycodone pills from the defendants in the area of Red Hook, St. Thomas.
The five defendants, identified as Jamil Bell, 43, Peter Francis, 33, Niah Henry, 44, Anwar Lockhart, 41, and Kenson Plasimo, 43, are facing charges of drug trafficking. The cases were investigated by the DEA and VIPD and are being prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorneys Cherrisse R. Woods and Kimberly M. Riley.
United States Attorney Delia L. Smith announced the indictments, stating that an indictment is not evidence of guilt, and all persons are presumed innocent until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt.
The DEA and VIPD operation targeted the defendants’ alleged involvement in the distribution of cocaine and oxycodone pills in the Red Hook area. The investigation and arrests are a significant step towards tackling the scourge of drug trafficking in the US Virgin Islands.
