Calmen Stewart, Jr., Counterfeit Federal Reserve Notes, Pennsylvania 2024

A local man has been sentenced for his role in passing counterfeit federal reserve notes throughout the Middle District of Pennsylvania.

Calmen Stewart, Jr., a 23-year-old Stroudsburg resident, was sentenced to 2 months time served in prison, followed by 2 years of supervised release. The first 6 months of supervised release will be served on home detention with electronic monitoring, according to United States District Court Judge Malachy E. Mannion.

Additionally, Stewart was ordered to pay restitution in the amount of $1,700.

The sentencing stems from Stewart’s guilty plea to conspiracy to pass counterfeit federal reserve notes at various locations throughout the Middle District of Pennsylvania and elsewhere.

The case was jointly investigated by the United States Secret Service and the Dickson City Police Department, with Assistant United States Attorney Michelle Olshefski prosecuting the case.

According to United States Attorney Peter Smith, Stewart’s guilty plea marked a significant step in bringing those responsible for these crimes to justice.
