Lackawanna County Woman Charged with Producing Child Pornography
A 25-year-old woman from Carbondale, Pennsylvania, has been charged with producing and distributing child pornography. According to the United States Attorney’s Office for the Middle District of Pennsylvania, Mykayliah Hevener, 25, was indicted on April 23, 2024, for her alleged involvement in the production and distribution of child sexual abuse material.
The indictment, obtained by the Grimy Times, alleges that in 2023, Hevener produced and distributed images and videos of herself engaging in sexual contact with a toddler. The case is being investigated by the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI).
Assistant U.S. Attorney Luisa Honora Berti is prosecuting the case. This case was brought as part of Project Safe Childhood, a nationwide initiative launched in May 2006 by the Department of Justice to combat the growing epidemic of child sexual exploitation and abuse.
The maximum penalty under federal law for this offense is 30 years of imprisonment, a term of supervised release following imprisonment, and a fine. A sentence following a finding of guilt is imposed by the Judge after consideration of the applicable federal sentencing statutes and the Federal Sentencing Guidelines.
