A Vacaville man has been sentenced to four years and nine months in prison for unlawfully possessing ammunition as a felon.
Carlos Biviescas, 29, was sentenced today for being a felon in possession of ammunition, according to Acting U.S. Attorney Phillip A. Talbert.
In May 2020, Biviescas was arrested for driving on a suspended license. During the search of his car, a backpack containing a ghost gun loaded with an extended magazine containing 29 rounds of .40 caliber ammunition was found. Additionally, 21 more rounds of ammunition were discovered in the backpack.
Biviescas is prohibited from lawfully possessing firearms or ammunition due to his previous felony convictions.
This case was the result of an investigation by the Vacaville Police Department, the Solano County District Attorney’s Office, the FBI’s Solano County Violent Crimes Task Force, and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives.
Assistant U.S. Attorney Adrian T. Kinsella prosecuted the case, which is part of Project Safe Neighborhoods (PSN). PSN is a program aimed at reducing violent crime by bringing together law enforcement and the community they serve.
The case highlights the importance of collaboration between law enforcement agencies and the community in reducing violent crime.
