A 45-year-old Mexican national has been sentenced to 155 months in prison for trafficking methamphetamine in San Antonio, Texas.
Cesar Sepulveda Esquivel, also known as Cesar Sepulveda Jimenez, was identified as a supplier for methamphetamine and cocaine in December 2022. A joint investigation involving the DEA and Texas Department of Public Safety Criminal Investigations Division resulted in multiple narcotics transactions between January 11 and April 5, 2023.
Esquivel was arrested at his home on May 24, 2023, and found to be in possession of a 45-caliber handgun, two ounces of marijuana, several grams of methamphetamine, and 10 grams of cocaine.
He pleaded guilty on August 13, 2025, and was sentenced on December 8 by U.S. District Judge David Ezra. The U.S. Attorney for the Western District of Texas, Justin R. Simmons, made the announcement.
In 2008, Esquivel was convicted of possession with intent to distribute cocaine. He served 48 months in prison before being removed to Mexico. Esquivel illegally returned to the U.S. in 2022, continuing to distribute narcotics.
According to court documents, Esquivel was identified as a supplier for methamphetamine and cocaine in December 2022. A joint investigation resulted in multiple narcotics transactions between January 11 and April 5, 2023.
The DEA and Texas Department of Public Safety Criminal Investigations Division investigated the case, and Assistant U.S. Attorney Sarah Spears prosecuted the case. Esquivel’s sentence will serve as a warning to those who continue to engage in narcotics trafficking in the Western District of Texas.
