Charles A. Marker, Methamphetamine Distribution, West Virginia 2016

WHEELING, WEST VIRGINIA – A Brooke County man was sentenced to 120 months in prison for distribution of methamphetamine, announced United States Attorney William J. Ihlenfeld, II.

Charles A. Marker, 40, of Wellsburg, West Virginia, was sentenced today for distribution of methamphetamine.

Marker previously pled guilty in February 2016 to one count of “Conspiracy to Possess with Intent to Distribute and to Distribute Methamphetamine.”

Assistant U.S. Attorney Stephen L. Vogrin prosecuted the case on behalf of the government. The Hancock, Brooke, Weirton Drug and Violent Crime Task Force, a HIDTA-funded initiative, investigated.

U.S. District Judge John Preston Bailey presided.

Marker’s sentence will be served concurrently with any other federal or state sentence he may be serving.

This case is the result of an investigation by the Hancock, Brooke, Weirton Drug and Violent Crime Task Force, a HIDTA-funded initiative. This case was prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney Stephen L. Vogrin.

The Hancock, Brooke, Weirton Drug and Violent Crime Task Force is comprised of law enforcement officers from the Hancock County Sheriff’s Department, the Brooke County Sheriff’s Department, the Weirton Police Department, and the West Virginia State Police.

Task Force members work together to identify and disrupt the flow of dangerous drugs into the area.

United States Attorney William J. Ihlenfeld, II commended the task force for their hard work and dedication to making the community safer.

“The successful prosecution of this case is a testament to the tireless efforts of the Hancock, Brooke, Weirton Drug and Violent Crime Task Force,” said U.S. Attorney Ihlenfeld. “Their dedication to keeping our community safe from the scourge of methamphetamine is inspiring and commendable.”

“We will continue to work tirelessly to identify and prosecute those who seek to bring harm to our community through the distribution of dangerous drugs,” U.S. Attorney Ihlenfeld added.
