Charles Cox, Violent Robbery, Texas 2024

Two local men have been brought to justice for their roles in violent robberies targeting a local Dollar Tree store in Houston, Texas.

On April 13, 2021, Charles Cox, 34, and Jarred Adams, 20, entered a Dollar Tree store located on FM 1960. Adams shot and injured a clerk to obtain cash, while Cox acted as the getaway driver.

Less than 24 hours later, the pair struck again at a separate Dollar Tree store located on SH 249. This time, they brandished a firearm but did not fire any shots.

Cox and Adams pleaded guilty to their crimes on May 15. At a sentencing hearing, the court heard both men apologize to the victims and accept full responsibility for their actions.

U.S. District Judge David Hittner imposed a 240-month sentence for Cox and 281 months for Adams. Both men will also serve three years of supervised release following their sentences.

The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives led the investigation with the assistance of the Houston Police Department. Assistant U.S. Attorney Jim McAlister prosecuted the case.

Cox and Adams are currently in custody and will be transferred to a U.S. Bureau of Prisons facility at a later date.

The court emphasized that the use of weapons was a significant factor in determining the length of their prison sentences.
