An Albuquerque man has been sentenced to 11 months in prison for assaulting federal officers with an airsoft revolver.
Charlie Ray Turnbow, 40, of Albuquerque, N.M., was sentenced this morning in federal court to eleven months of imprisonment followed by one year of supervised release for his conviction for assaulting federal officers.
The assault occurred on August 6, 2015, in Bernalillo County, N.M., outside of the offices of the Social Security Administration located at 500 Lead Avenue SW in Albuquerque. Turnbow shot at the two officers with an airsoft weapon, but they were not injured.
Turnbow was arrested on August 6, 2015, on a criminal complaint charging him with assaulting two officers of the Federal Protective Service of the U.S. Department of Homeland Security. On October 7, 2015, Turnbow pled guilty to a misdemeanor information charging him with assaulting federal officers with an airsoft revolver.
This case was investigated by the Federal Protective Service of the U.S. Department of Homeland and the FBI’s Albuquerque Division. Assistant U.S. Attorney Paul Mysliwiec prosecuted the case.
Turnbow’s conviction and sentencing bring an end to a tumultuous chapter in the lives of the officers who were targeted in the assault. The incident serves as a reminder of the risks and dangers that law enforcement officers face on a daily basis.
