Aliquippa drug dealer Che Turner, 39, was hit with an 8-year federal prison sentence Thursday after admitting his role in a multi-county cocaine trafficking ring that flooded Beaver, Butler, and Allegheny Counties with hundreds of grams of the illicit drug. U.S. Attorney Scott W. Brady confirmed the sentence, marking the latest takedown in a sweeping crackdown on organized narcotics networks in Western Pennsylvania.
U.S. District Judge Mark R. Hornak handed down the 96-month sentence, followed by five years of supervised release, after Turner pleaded guilty to conspiracy to distribute and possess with intent to distribute a mixture containing a detectable amount of cocaine—specifically between 200 and 300 grams. The conviction stems from evidence gathered during a long-term FBI-led investigation targeting a high-level Drug Trafficking Organization operating across state lines.
According to court filings, Turner conspired with multiple associates to move bulk quantities of cocaine through the tri-county region, exploiting local networks to distribute the drug at both wholesale and street levels. The prosecution, led by Assistant U.S. Attorney Robert C. Schupansky, painted Turner as a key middleman in a supply chain that threatened public safety and fueled addiction across struggling industrial communities.
The FBI’s Greater Pittsburgh Safe Streets Task Force (GPSSTF) spearheaded the investigation, pooling resources from the Wilkinsburg Police Department, Pennsylvania Attorney General’s Bureau of Narcotics Investigations, Allegheny County Sheriff’s Office, Allegheny County Police Department, and Pittsburgh Bureau of Police. The operation exemplifies the federal strategy of uniting local and national law enforcement to dismantle entrenched criminal enterprises.
Funding for the probe came through the federal Organized Crime Drug Enforcement Task Force Program (OCDETF), a high-priority initiative designed to dismantle major drug trafficking organizations through coordinated federal, state, and local action. Investigators say the program’s resources were instrumental in tracking communications, executing search warrants, and building a case that led to Turner’s downfall.
U.S. Attorney Brady praised the collaborative effort, stating, “This prosecution sends a clear message: those who profit from poisoning our neighborhoods will face serious federal time.” Turner’s sentencing underscores the federal government’s ongoing commitment to targeting mid- to high-level distributors who fuel the region’s drug crisis.
