Muskogee, Oklahoma – In a shocking turn of events, 33-year-old Christopher Blake Gilbert of Haworth, Oklahoma, has pleaded guilty to Felon In Possession Of Firearm & Ammunition, a federal crime punishable by not more than 10 years imprisonment, and up to a $250,000.00 fine or both.
The case against Gilbert stems from an investigation by the McCurtain County Sheriff’s Office, the Choctaw Police Department, and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, which revealed that on or about September 7, 2017, Gilbert knowingly possessed a firearm and ammunition that had been shipped and transported in interstate commerce, despite being convicted of a crime punishable by imprisonment for a term exceeding one year.
Assistant United States Attorney Kristin Harrington represented the United States in this case, and the Honorable Steven P. Shreder, U.S. Magistrate Judge in the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Oklahoma, accepted Gilbert’s plea and ordered the completion of a presentence investigation report.
Gilbert will remain in custody pending a sentencing hearing, where he may face up to 10 years in prison and a fine of up to $250,000.00.
