Christopher Prowell, Multiple Robberies, Ohio 2021

A Cleveland man has been charged with multiple robberies throughout the Cuyahoga County area, authorities announced.

According to the indictment, Christopher Prowell, 61, of Cleveland, is alleged to have committed multiple robberies in Cuyahoga County area.

The indictment charges Prowell with six counts of robbery. The alleged robberies occurred at various locations, including Peoples Bank in Beachwood and a Sunoco Gas Station in Independence on February 18, 2021. Prowell allegedly robbed a GetGo Gas Station in Lyndhurst and a BP Gas Station in Brooklyn on February 28. On March 3, 2021, Prowell allegedly robbed a PNC Bank in Shaker Heights and a Key Bank in South Euclid on March 24, 2021. During some of the alleged robberies, Prowell used a box cutter to threaten employees.

An indictment is only a charge and is not evidence of guilt. The burden of proof lies with the government to prove guilt beyond a reasonable doubt.

The investigation was conducted by the FBI with the assistance of local police departments. This case is being prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Scott C. Zarzycki.

Prowell faces significant penalties if convicted. The Court will determine the sentence based on factors unique to this case, including Prowell’s prior criminal record, if any, his role in the offense, and the characteristics of the violation. If convicted, Prowell’s sentence will not exceed the statutory maximum and will likely be less than the maximum.
