Clarion, IA – Kevin Ammerman, a repeat sex offender from Clarion, Iowa, has been sentenced to 18 years in federal prison for possession of child pornography. The 49-year-old was handed down the sentence on April 16, 2014, following his January 16, 2014, guilty plea to two counts of the offense.
Ammerman’s previous convictions include lascivious acts with a child in Wright County in 1985 and indecent contact with a child in 2000. The sentencing took place in Sioux City before United States District Court Judge Mark W. Bennett, with Ammerman facing 216 months’ imprisonment.
In addition to the prison term, Ammerman must pay a special assessment of $200 and serve a 15-year term of supervised release. He is also required to comply with all sex offender registration and public notification requirements.
This case was prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Mark Tremmel, with investigations conducted by Homeland Security Investigations and the Wright County Sheriff’s Office. It was part of Project Safe Childhood, a nationwide initiative aimed at combating child sexual exploitation and abuse.
