Navy Senior Chief Clayton A. Pressley, 40, of Chesapeake, has been indicted on charges of bank fraud, aggravated identity theft, and unlawfully possessing identity documents in a shocking scheme that has left many questioning the integrity of the military command.
According to the indictment, Pressley used his position as a senior enlisted member of a local military command to access personal identity information and identification documents of members of his command. Using that information, he applied for and received several loans from Pioneer Mid-Country Bank, pretending to be two of his subordinates. He also possessed identity documents at his residence for eight other members of his military command.
The indictment, which was returned by a federal grand jury on March 1, 2023, alleges that Pressley committed the crimes in Norfolk, Virginia. The case is being prosecuted by Special Assistant U.S. Attorney Alyssa Nichol and Assistant U.S. Attorney Steve Haynie of the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Eastern District of Virginia.
